A bias toward action. One day in the life of a crisis can be like a year in the life of a healthy company. A turnaround expert plays a role similar to a doctor operating on a bleeding patient, with cash being the lifeblood of the business. The “doctor’s” first step is to apply a tourniquet to the cash outflow. This is followed by delicate negotiations with creditors. As the cash situation stabilizes, a comprehensive turnaround plan is implemented. Cash needs continue to be tightly monitored throughout the process.
Hope... then results. Typically, when clients first inquire, they are discouraged. There is a pervasive feeling, throughout their organization, that all options have been exhausted. Commonly, even those responsible for hiring the outside assistance do not believe that their company can be saved but go forward with a “well, what have we got to lose” attitude.
